[edit] Abstract
Fennec is the project to create a version of Firefox for mobile devices. The challenge, so far, has been to bring what users love about Firefox -- that it's simple, secure, speedy, and extremely customizable -- to mobile, while redesigning the user-interface to be more appropriate for a small-screen touch-screen world. We started from scratch, with a few key goals in mind:
- Maximizing the screen space dedicated to content
- Minimizing typing wherever possible
- Accommodating finger size and taking advantage of the physicality of touch-screens
- I'll go through a case study of how we got to the current form of the Fennec interface design, and where we're heading from here.
